ABOUT ME

Welcome to my Portfolio Website! My name is Hailey Horton, I am a recent Texas State University graduate with a degree in digital media innovation. Digital media encompasses skills in multiple facets of the media realm. With my degree, I have developed skills such as basic web design, media writing and editing, app development, social media skills and more. I have a passion for all things creative and visual-design related and hope to bring a unique eye to any project or company.

In addition to my digital media major, my minor is in popular culture studies. This minor has allowed me to take classes in mental health, sociology, sexuality, art and my personal favorite, the dark side of communication. My minor has given me knowledge to relate my skills in media in a relevant, effective and real-world way that people will respond to positively.

I am a disciplined, hard-working, and determined person who has proven to be a valuable asset to workplaces and organizations. I have had the pleasure of interning for TEDxTexas State University and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo during my college career.

My internships have given me a way to relate my skills to real situations and clients. My time with TEDxTexas State University was with my advanced social media class, where we were tasked with creating and critiquing content to bring buzz around an event they were having.

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo internship was focused on communication and hospitality. The intern team was responsible for making sure the after-rodeo shows went off without any issues. This required extreme multi-tasking and communication skills under pressure and a time constraint. I also designed some new and improved graphics for future rodeos.

My most recent job was at Bj’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, where I worked for three years. I was awarded a green apron, distinguishing me as a lead server, and a trainer. I worked almost every weekend during my college career so I could help my family with as many expenses as possible. Having experience as a server has given me excellent multi-tasking and customer service skills.

My other interests include makeup, nail art and all things beauty-related. I also love to SCUBA dive and have been diving in Isla Mujeres, Mexico and Oahu/Kauai, Hawaii along with my dad and brother. Being a certified diver also allowed me to take an underwater photography class and get certified in underwater imaging during my final semester at Texas State.

Above all, the most important part of my life is my BIG family. They have loved and supported me through everything my whole life—I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am without them.

My portfolio exemplifies several mediums of online media. It consists of work from HTML/CSS, Wordpress, Bootstrap, Canva, Adobe InDesign, PowerPoint and more.

Websites

The websites I have created encompass most of the skills I have learned in my web design and coding classes. Each website serves a different purpose from my brother’s football recruiting site to my feature site on Rhea’s Ice Cream Shop.

Social Media

For this portion of my portfolio, I have demonstrated my knowledge of social media analytics, design and strategy. Also included are some social media certifications I have earned from Facebook, Hubspot Google and Hootsuite.

Media Design

This section demonstrates some digital designs I have created on Canva and Adobe InDesign. Each design also speaks to some of my passions and hobbies, like SCUBA diving and the art of drag.
